Fontalbe was the perfect setting for three generations
“Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us! Like your previous guests, we are three generations of the Roberts family and Fontalbe provides the perfect setting.
Highlights have been canoeing on the Vézère, cycling along the Canal from Lalinde, fun in the pool, games in the lounge and BBQ suppers in the “Bar”.
As keen pétanque players (we call it that in Catalonia) we loved teaching our grandchildren to play on the great piste.

Three generations, from grandma to a two-year-old
“We have had a wonderful special week in gorgeous Fontalbe. We are 3 generations from Grandma to 2½ year: 4 children, 6 adults.
Pool was fabulous, swam every day, canoed, went to markets, played table tennis, treasure hunts in garden, cycled to local village, lovely nights markets at Beaumont, BBQs and relaxed.
Can absolutely recommend Le Croquant restaurant – lovely family run, very understated, fantastic food!! It is just before the main square in Monpazier, just after the bag shop and boulangerie.

Somewhere really special
“From the moment we arrived here we felt we were somewhere really special. The peace and tranquility enabled us to relax completely and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the facilities this amazing place has to offer.
Super comfortable beds, starlit nights, toasty evenings by the log burner with a glass of local wine in hand, roasting fresh chestnuts on the barbecue and cracking walnuts picked up on a walk in the extensive grounds.
We didn’t get round to the petanque but, there is something for everyone here and with accommodation for up to 14 people this is THE place to come with family or a group of friends. You will have a really memorable time here. We can’t wait to return.”

“October was a lovely time to visit Fontalbe! It is a beautiful, peaceful place within easy reach of a number of gorgeous villages. You have the authenticity of the french gite along with superb facilities and the most comfortable beds.
The weather was cool in the morning and evenings and warm in the afternoons but with clear blue skies and the trees were stunning. We had cosy evenings by the wood-burning fires – it was so relaxing. The place has a very special feel and I definitely hope to return.”

Your recommendation of LaBougette was spot on – the atmosphere was lively, the music was great and the pizza was absolutely delicious. An amazing week for all three generations of our family
“Three generations of our family had the most amazing week at Fontable. What a special place in the woods, with lots of walks and exploring in a peaceful setting. The property has been beautifully renovated to a high specification. The kitchen was the best we’ve used, having absolutely everything that our family of cooks needed. We loved the open shelves and it provided a vast range of tins, pots etc. – there was nothing left out and all large enough to serve 12 people. The property was spotlessly clean on arrival and many thanks to the friendly caretakers Jayne and Ian made sure we were well looked after.
The pool – wow! We all spent hours here on the sun beds, using the inflatables and enjoying the shade from umbrellas and trees.
On days out we loved the markets at Beaumontois-en-Périgord, the town of Monpazier and the Chateau de Biron.
There are so many places to visit we will have to return!”

Superb Villa to celebrate our 10th anniversary
“We have had a wonderful family holiday at Fontalbe celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary with our family. The villa is superb with plenty to keep us all occupied, with ages ranging from 3 to 71. We especially enjoyed seeing the variety of wildlife, from deer, bats, herons, frogs and this morning even a praying mantis!
The pool was a big hit, especially with our six year old who swam her first length unaided. We had a very special meal cooked by Alicia, it was delicious and we highly recommend her. Thanks again for letting us stay at your beautiful house,”

Perfect for a family holiday
“What a beautiful home and grounds for a perfect family holiday. With children and adults of all ages. We loved playing in the pool and playing boules and garden games. The walnut grove walk up to the town was lovely and the Monday evening food market in the village was a highlight.

Beautifully equipped house
Alan E – “We had a terrific time in Fontalbe, the surprises kept coming! Such a lovely, tranquil location, yet with all the creature comforts of home. We were a good-sized crowd and yet never felt short of space or opportunity to take time out without being disturbed. The large pool was absolutely brilliant, heated to make it feel comfortable even when the weather was at 30 degrees!
The interior was kitted out very comfortably, with smart/rustic décor, a good sized, well-equipped kitchen and every mod con! Rooms were airy, spacious and each with its’ own well designed en-suite, making for the perfect get-away.”

The house was beautifully equipped with spacious accommodation and a wonderful pool; we found ourselves relaxing there very easily. The recreation facilities of table tennis, pétanque, swimming, badminton and many more, as well as indoor board games and fast broadband meant we were never without something to do and thus making Fontalbe a brilliant retreat for all seasons, thank you.”

A fabulous place for my 70th birthday celebrations
“A fabulous stay in your converted papermill. My 70th birthday party was a huge success, we had Alicia to cater for us and was really good.
There were 28 of us on 28/6. Some of our highlights: L’Atelier in Issegeac and the market Gourmande was fun.
Alicia prepared a BBQ pack for us too. Fab. Nice walks and lovely area of France. We will visit again. Jayne and Ian were great too. ”

“Fontalbe is a stunning, peaceful place! We had an amazing family holiday, and the setting was absolutely beautiful. We loved exploring the grounds and lounging by the pool, and eating on the patio and in the bar area was a real treat. There’s plenty to do around the gite, too—great walks, pétanque, table tennis, and of course, the heated swimming pool.
A highlight was the Sunday morning market at Issigeac. Plus, an unforgettable meal at Table de Leo—definitely a must-visit. Made some truly great memories here. Highly recommend!”

Hours of fun and laughter
“A three-generation family holiday has been thoroughly enjoyed here at Fontalbe. Sitting under the wisteria Trees was a favourite spot for breakfast, reading, watercolour painting etc. the pool has been fantastic for six grandchildren who have had hours of fun and laughter, the sun loungers have been well used too. So much wildlife – demoiselles, butterflies, dragonflies, lizards, a toad plus fish and crayfish in the stream.”

“The accommodation was fantastic. Greg, the host was really welcoming and informative. Heated pool was great for the children and adults alike. Local restaurants recommended were good. It would be good if local restaurants and entertainment venues were in the welcome pack, although the host was happy to provide the restaurants. We researched and visited a few local entertainment sites including Lake Pombonne ( a very picturesque lake) and local chateau Bridoire providing lots of children entertainment. Altogether a super family holiday.”

“Spent a few days at Fontalbe to kick off summer, and it was amazing. The house and grounds were stunning—a perfect blend of modern interior and traditional farmhouse vibe. Had everything we needed, and the beds were super comfy. Loved cooking in the kitchen and BBQing in the bar area while listening to the river.
The heated pool was just right, even early in the summer. Explored the local bastide towns and markets, which were a blast. The only downside? Needed more time to do everything. Definitely planning a return trip.”
