Private Vineyard Tours

Towards the west of Fontalbe is Bergerac Wine Country where gently rolling, hillside vines spread up the north and south banks of the Dordogne river. Dordogne Vineyards produce a surprising variety of wines making it a treasure trove for wine lovers. With the same soils as Bordeaux, the wines are often made with greater attention to detail due to smaller, family-run vineyards and are certainly not to be missed.

To learn more about Bergerac wines or to simply enjoy touring the local countryside, sampling the local wines then we recommend a private wine tour with Dordogne Vineyard Tours.

Vince will pick you up in your private van for the day and introduce you to the different appellations of Bergerac wine country. You’ll meet the winemakers, enjoy tasting different wine styles and colours, (including organic and natural wines) as well as get the inside track on local culture, history and wine-making. Lunch is a locally sourced picnic in an idyllic, shady spot overlooking the vines.

Tours Include:

  • Pick up and drop off to Fontalbe.
  • Face to face time with the wine-makers themselves.
  • Tastings of around 12-15 wines.
  • A gourmet picnic lunch overlooking the vineyards.
  • A knowledgeable, qualified, local host who can answer all your questions.
  • Little extras: bottled water, hand-gel, sunscreen, super soft rugs for chilly days.

Dordogne Vineyard Tours can also offer private wine tastings at Fontalbe should you prefer to enjoy the local wines from the comfort of your Gite.

Prices are between €135 – €170 depending on group size. Up to 6 people can be accommodated in your private van, but if your party is larger, then please just ask.

Private wine tastings

Dordogne Vineyard Tours can also offer private wine tastings should you prefer to enjoy the local wines from the comfort of Fontalbe.

Starting with a welcome glass of fizz and an overview of Bergerac wine country, guests will taste 8 wines from across the different appellations of Bergerac that represent the varied styles of the area. After an introduction to tasting wine, Vince will go into more detail about the stories behind each label. (Topics include wine aging, organic & natural wines, grape-growing, climate change etc). The tasting is informative, relaxed and pitched at a level that ensures everyone learns something new. The wines are accompanied by platters of cheeses and charcuterie from a local fromagerie.

We recommend booking any wine event well in advance of your arrival.
