More fun and games

Our new pétanque boulodrome

The finishing touch to this impromptu project took us right to the wire as the final touch of paint was being applied just as the first guests were due to turn into the drive!

To say I was stressed was an understatement. Why did we build a pétanque court in the first place?

Well, that’s another story Championship size pétanque court planned for the Fontalbe gite.

Enter the “Cercle”

The completed court takes pride of place in front of the gite, alongside the bar and BBQ. To the untrained eye it might just look like an extension to the car park.

However inconspicuous this shingled filled wooden frame might seem don’t underestimate it! It is the key to hours of holiday fun and games.

Even the novice will be addicted after throwing a few boules. Stand on the Fontalbe “cercle”, or throwing circle, (thank you Roger, who designed and built the court for having this made for us out of limestone from our local quarry) throw your first few boules and there will be no stopping you!

Fontalbe Pétanque Cup

It’s a game that everyone can play regardless of age or ability. We’ve provided some rules, along with a score board, although scoring is not particularly difficult until things get competitive that is!

That’s when the measuring tape is needed to arbitrate – also provided!

And if that’s not competitive enough, challenge your family and friends to compete for the Fontalbe Pétanque Cup. Maybe next year it will have your name on it!
